Climb the 213 steps from the Quai des Etats Unis to the top of Castle Hill (Colline du Château), the original site of the city, for a panoramic view from Alps to Mediterranean Sea. Art Deco elevator covers about three-quarters of the climb. Not much of the 12th century castle remains, but there's a playground and a spectacular fountain. You can also access on foot from Place Garibaldi.
