Badly damaged during the war and left to disrepair under the DDR, Frederick William IV's cathedral was restored quickly after the fall of the Wall to its former fin-de-siécle glory. It's an overwhelming room to duck into after a day exploring the collections of the Museuminsel, but if timed right, visitor's can observe evening prayer and see the cupola in action for no cost at all.
