Part of the arts complex of the Pinacoteca do Estado, this former a train station, dating to 1872, played an important role in connecting the rich coffee producing areas of the Sao Paolo countryside to the ports on the coast of Santos. With the decline of the railway, the station was remodelled in the 1990's to house the city's Symphony Orchestra.
