Reached by a free 20-minute boat shuttle, Deerfield Island Park is a 53.3-acre (22 ha.) county nature preserve with mangrove swamps and nature trails, which is open only on weekends. Boats leave for the island at 10 am, noon and 2 pm from Pioneer Park at 217 NE Fifth Ave., with the last return at 3:30 pm. It can also has a six-slip marina for private boats under 25 feet.
