The Silver Sands is only a shadow of the popular beachfront motel it was the 1960s, but it's a wonder it's still here at all given real estate values on Key Biscayne. It's been hanging on for decades, but it's not been the same since the Sandbar, its where-it-was-happening restaurant/bar was swept away in a hurricane. But the rooms are fine if dated, the pool sparkling and beach walks are just out the door.
