It might fall through the cracks because of the popularity of the Pinakotheke, but the world's largest museum of science and technology should on no account be missed by enthusiasts of either one, or anyone else who has a few hours to spare and an open mind. First opened in 1926, it was originally conceived by the electrical engineer Oskar Miller as a showcase of the world's, but particularly Germany's, major scientific and technological advancements. Today it is a gorgeous collection of dioramas explaining space travel, elaborate model trains, reproductions of cave paintings and countless machines, large and small.
